Thanks a lot for enabling the Virtio drivers in the Tizen IVI kernel. Here is
(a little late... sorry about that), some additional information that Philippe
(on CC, credits go to him) has put together to enable an image to run in
VMware. First of all, one of the key requirements was to be able to benefit
from the graphics acceleration so a lot of attention was given to that. Here is
the situation as far as I understand it:
- VMware: the Free Player supports 3D acceleration on Windows hosts but you
need VMware Workstation (not free) to have 3D acceleration on Linux hosts.
- VirtualBox: seems no upstream Gfx drivers exist and it's all tied to the
VirtualBox Guest Additions (which I don't know if these can easily be installed
on Tizen IVI)
- QEMU/kvm: there used to be a project called qemu-gl that focussed on that
aspect. I don't know what happened to that project but I certainly think that
enabling GL in qemu would be of great value since this is also what is used in
the Tizen SDK for the emulation part.

CONFIG_DRM_VMWGFX is the config option to turn on the Gfx drivers that can be
used in VMware and unless I've missed it it's disabled in the kernel-x86-ivi,
could you enable that one too?
I haven't verified it but it looks like the libdrm package we use in Tizen IVI
already has the support to use these (vmwgfx API is enabled according to the
buildlog)

Thanks!
