In most cases the “failed to build” packages described in 1) below (and logged
in the download builddata repo), are packages not used by IVI. OBS does try to
build every package in Tizen including many not used by IVI. The “packages”
file in the image directory shows the packages included in the image by
default. Any failure of the packages used in the IVI image (or any of the key
IVI add-ons like ICO) is escalated for quick resolution.

Dear Hello--

Search for my name in the Tizen archives. You will find plenty of discussion
about building Tizen from scratch. Not sure it would be productive to
reiterate the whole thing again here.

I have not put my attention on this for some time now, but AFAIK it is not
possible to completely build Tizen from publicly available sources using GBS
(or any other tool including OBS). Things are better than they were a few
months ago, and they continue to improve, but that's just where the project is
at for the time being.

As I understand it, the encouraged work model is outlined below. I haven't
done this, so value the description accordingly! I'm sure others will speak up
if I've got it wrong: [cid:[email protected]]

  1. Get a released image (I think the latest one is like 20140115.4). These
images have been mainly built off released code in OBS. Where OBS fails to
build a package (or if a package contains a blocking bug?), the failed package
is replaced with an older version that *did* build/work.
  2. Use repo to get the current package repositories and to keep them up to
date.
  3. Use GBS to rebuild only the packages you want to work on. Not clear to
me how to handle it if the package you want to work on is one of those that
fail to build...
  4. Use the resulting RPM to update the image you got, above.
Other work models are possible but won't integrate into the flow of the team
and aren't supported here.

Good luck!

Paul

Okay, let me try again. I want do fully rebuild of tizen source code.
download.tizen.org<http://download.tizen.org> is not what I want to use to get
the job done. Neither gbs. Is there any other solution available? Please dont
sell me gbs+download.tizen.org<http://download.tizen.org> again, please. The
combination sucked too much human+machines hours, while it ended up in various
fatal errors as we see in last a few years. TIA hello.tizen
