Hello, Firstly, I apologize for breaking protocol and including various people who're likely on this list in CC, I want to include a number of stakeholders who may not read this list.
My purpose with this email is to discuss the status of Location Based Services (LBS) APIs in Tizen IVI. As everyone here likely knows there are a lot of navigation services out there and it is very expensive to integrate new services into a platform. That cost is likely unnecessary if there is a "standardized" API that Navigation and LBS might consume. PSA has developed some LBS APIs and is working on more. The software that has been developed is Open Source software with an OSI approved license and has been integrated with an Open Source navigation engine (navit). This work has been done in GENIVI but I want to be clear that this is all Open Source and available for patching, discussion, and use by anyone. I'd like to ask that those who are interested in evaluating these LBS APIs and discussing navigation and LBS in general please chime in on this thread and hopefully it can be a place where software implementations and APIs can be exchanged, requirements discussed, and a common approach taken that is robust, high quality, and a good fit for automotive.
