Hi Jaska,
Yes, we are seeing same behavior always. And the noise level is also same as
with iPhone

Thanks,
Kirankumar

Hello,

Ok, thanks for the logs. I'll check them through.

Is the behaviour reproducible? I mean is it always the same ordering that
causes the noise?

Jaska

Hi,
We have taken logs with Android phone which are attached here along with
'hcidump' traces.

The steps we followed are as follows on VTC1010 and Sony Android (version
4.4.2) phone,

1) HFP Working case
        - boot the system
        - #bluetoothctl
        - #power on
        - #connect xx.xx.xx........
        - #pulseaudio -vvvv
        - make a call to connected android phone
        - HFP is working
        - disconnect from android phone
        - #bluetoothctl
        - #connect xx.xx.xx.......
        - #Bluetooth-player
        - #play
        - BTA working

2) HFP not working
        - boot the system
        - #pulseaudio -vvvv
        - #bluetoothctl
        - #power on
        - #connect xx.xx.xx........
        - make a call to connected android phone
        - HFP is not working, only noise.
        - #Bluetooth-player
        - #Play
        - BTA working

Thanks,

Hi Jaska,
Thank you for your quick reply.
We will surely take logs for Android phone and share with you.

So meanwhile we took the hcidump logs for iPhone 5S (iOS 7.1.2) which are
attached if in case it helps.

Thanks,

Hello,

First, it is a fact that iphones produce noise atm. There's a bug about it
https://bugs.tizen.org/jira/browse/TC-162. I hope some of our bluez guys have
some time to look at it. So for now I would urge you to try with some android
phones for example.

About the logs, the "crash" case I know, I think it is the same case as "bad"
but with some timing error. In this case bluez socket is violently disconnected
(something bad happens on bluez side) and pulseaudio bluetooth module can't
handle it gracefully. In the "bad" log you see this as POLLERR POLLHUP in the
log, but it is handled, but of course there is no audio.

The hfp related pulseaudio patches have gone to upstream and I'm atm building
new pulseaudio for tizen. This will however take some time and I have to do
quite through testing on it. I hope the crash with bt socket disconnection will
go away with the new stuff.

It would probably help if you could get some logs from the bluetooth, like with
hcidump, in these error cases when audio is not heard.

br,
Jaska

Subject: RE: HFP Audio is not getting routed to USB sound card

Hi,
We have tried HFP on VTC1010 platform as well (without security=none) with
latest release (tizen-3.0.m14.2-ivi_20140724.4_ivi-efi-i586-sdb.raw.bz2) and we
are facing same issue that we hear a load noise during HFP.

We were able to get HFP sound routed properly in some cases though on SilverBox
(March release) and VTC1010 (latest release).
We also came across a strange scenario that if we connect phone over BT and
then start PulseAudio then the HFP works most of the time but it fails if
PulseAudio is started before Bluetooth connection.
In HFP working case A2DP does not work as there is no A2DP profile connection
initiated. If we send connect command again to phone using "Bluetoothctl" then
even A2DP works as the PulseAudio will initiate the A2DP.

I have attached PulseAudio logs for your reference. There are logs for working,
non-working and PulseAudio crash case. These logs are taken on VTC1010 and with
latest release.

We have seen PulseAudio crash in some cases. The logs are also attached for
crash.

Thanks,
Kirankumar

Hi John,
The USB sound card gets mounted and drivers gets loaded properly as we are able
to route the Audio for local storage playback, USB and even Bluetooth A2DP
works fine without any issue in any case whether we have security=none or not.
Only the issue we are seeing is that routing audio for HFP. Phone audio won't
get routed to this USB sound card. We tried to use USB speakers as well to
check whether it is problem of the sound card we use, but the results are same.
Audio gets routed in all cases except HFP.

Thanks,
Kirankumar

Hi Kirankumar,

There is another bug related to mounting USB devices:

https://bugs.tizen.org/jira/browse/TC-50

"Mount error, domain = 65, error code = 4, msg =
GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.UDisks2.Error.NotAuthorizedCanObtain: Not
authorized to perform operation"

Maybe related here, but can you check journalctl logs to see if you are getting
the same kind of error? Even with security = none, which you should never do,
it may still fail.

Best Regards,

John L. Whiteman

Hi,
We have tried June release on same setup to check whether HFP Audio gets routed

But the results are same, we are not able to hear HFP audio.

We tried "security=none" option in boot options, but does not solve the problem.

Hi Jaska,
We will check with June release for HFP call and see how it behaves there.
But for our project we have to use March release as there are few more
applications which we are running on March 2014 release so there will be no
chance for us to move to June or later release at least for this implementation.

We appreciate your help.

Hello,

Ok, I'm using the vtc1010 device, but otherwise the setup is quite the same.

Anyway, I have big problems with pairing and connecting the device.
Once I got the connection done and in the middle of the call the bt connection
was terminated. I only get some error messages to ofono and bluetoothctl. btw
at that point I was hearing uplink and downlink of the call, however I was only
able to make one call.

I have to consult this with some of our connectivity guys, sorry I can't help
you very quickly.

br,
jaska

P.S. would it be possible for you to use newer images or do you have to use the
march release? people are not very eager to back port possible fixes...

Hi Jaska,
Thanks for your reply.
We are using Intel Atom based Silverbox HW and we are testing with Samsung
Galaxy S3, iPhone 4, iPhone 5S and we are seeing same issue with all the
phones. We could hear voice 1-2 times with iPhone 4 though for HFP.

And yes we are using USB Audio adapter but not the using USB headset. We
plugged speakers to this USB Audio adapter.

Most of the times we will hear low noise but with iPhone 5S we hear loud noise.

Note: With the same setup Bluetooth Audio (A2DP) works fine. Silverbox acts as
A2DP sink and Bluetooth audio gets routed to speakers.

Thanks,
Kirankumar

Subject: HFP Audio is not getting routed to USB sound card

Hi,
We are using Intel platform on which we are running March 2014 release.
We are running our Phone Dialer application which similar to Lemolo and uses
OFONO DBus interfaces to get telephony services.

So after we successfully pair HFP enabled phone to our IVI system with Lemolo
and with our application we are able to dial to a phone number. We receive the
phone call on phone to which we are dialing but after accepting the call we are
not able to hear any sound. Neither from IVI side or nor from the phone to
which we dialed. We also crosschecked that the phone with which we are pairing
supports HFP and it is, that is why we are able to make phone call.
But the A2DP sound gets routed to USB sound card properly when we are using out
IVI system as A2DP sink.

I came across the following reported bugs,
https://bugs.tizen.org/jira/browse/TIVI-2257
https://bugs.tizen.org/jira/browse/TIVI-2257

So did crosschecked whether we have correct firmware on our HW and it is,
ibt-hw-37.7.10-fw-1.80.2.3.d.bseq

which is the correct version which fixes the bug in FW. The case it that we did
heard HFP audio 1-2 times but we don't know how it worked that time.
Basically we followed the same steps apart from trying out with our application
and Lemolo.

The steps we followed,

1) Start pulse audio as app user using
#paplay <song>

2) Pair and connect HFP enabled phone over Bluetooth using

#bluetoothctl

3) Check the HFP modem using

#/usr/lib/ofono/test/list-modem

4) Enable modem using

#/usr/lib/ofono/test/enable-modem /hfp/org/bluez/hci0/dev_xx_xx_xx_xx_xx_xx

5) Then checked the pulse audio sources and sinks after enabling the
modem using commands

#pactl list sources and #pactl list sinks

6) Then dialed to a phone number using command,

#/usr/lib/ofono/test/dial-number /hfp/org/bluez/hci0/dev_xx_xx_xx_xx_xx_xx
$number

After this I receive the call but cannot hear HFP audio. So while call ongoing
I tried to link sources with sinks using,

#pactl load-module module-loopback source=bluez_source.xx_xx_xx_xx_xx_xx_xx
sink=alsa-output.usb-C-Media_Electronics_Inc.xxxxx && pactl load-module
module-loopback sink=bluez_sink.xx_xx_xx_xx_xx_xx_xx source= alsa_input.
usb-C-Media_Electronics_Inc.xxxxx

After doing this I just hear a noise but not the actual HFP audio.

Can anyone please give some pointers or any information how we can fix this
issue?

Regards,

Kirankumar Mahajan
