Hello,Well, I just gave up and am now using the tveeprom that came with my
kernel. But I'd still love to know what the cx88xx / cx8800 module is
for.
I also have had to switch from the ivtv version of tveeprom and use the one
that came with the 2.6.13 kernel. Here's the background:
I have a MythTV system with one PVR-350 and one HD-3000 card, and I want
to add one Air2PC (HD-5000) card to it. So, I installed the 2.6.13 kernel, along
with the hd5000-cleanup.patch, without any problems. At that time, I was using
lirc-0.7.1 and ivtv-0.3.6e, so I rebuilt both of these packages. The four kernel
modules, tuner, tda9887, msp3400, and tveeprom, were suffixed to ".orig" in
the kernel's 2.6.13 directory.
After rebuilding, I rebooted the system. There were ivtv errors and the remote
did not work. So, I knew I had a lot of searching to do. After searching, I
decided to install lirc-0.7.2 and ivtv-0.3.8, both at the same time. To skip all
the details, I then rebooted and got a screen-full of "cx88xx" errors. Here's the first one:
kernel: cx88xx: disagrees about version of symbol tveeprom_hauppauge_analog
So, Googled for some help and found this thread. That's why I'm posting this
reply. The previous posts (above) gave me the idea to swap "tveeprom" modules, which is exactly what I did. I re-renamed the ".orig" back to normal,
renamed the ivtv version to have the suffix ".ivtv", issued a "depmod -ae" command, and checked the results with a "modinfo tveeprom" command.
Then I rebooted. This time no errors, no errors of any kind. The PVR-350 card
works, the HD-3000 card works, and the remote (ATI Remote Wonder) works, too!
The next step will be to actually install the HD-5000 card and see what happens,
but I'll wait a few days to be sure the new combination of 2.6.13, 0.7.2, and 0.3.8
can all work together running this specific MythTV system.
Just thought the developers might like to know of another instance where the
2.6.13 tveeprom module was being used instead of the ivtv-0.3.8 version.
