I followed, faithfully, the directions given on the ivtvdriver.org HOWTO
page. Despite 7.5 hours of constantly doing/redoing it, I'm still running
0.2.0 (rc3j), according to `modinfo ivtv`. (`ivtvctl -a` returns 'not an
ivtv driver device').

I'm running a PVR-350 on FC3 (2.6.11-1.27_FC3), and using the framebuffer
device (ivtv_fb) to output to the television from X (and mythtv, etc).

Download and tar extraction were uneventful.

Make install issued no errors, but told me to rename some things to *.HIDE
(I did. There were several, and I iteratively renamed all of the tuner.ko,
tveeprom.ko, msp3400.ko, and tda9887.ko modules to *.HIDE).

(at one point, I renamed every copy of these modules, including the ones
that were just installed. I deleted the 0.4.0 directory, re-extracted the
tar, and started anew.)

depmod -a didn't complain about anything.

rmmod ivtv fails, saying it is in use by ivtv_fb
rmmod ivtv_fb doesn't complain
rmmod ivtv fails, saying it is in use
rmmod -f ivtv claims that the service is unavailable at this time

My /etc/modprobe.conf file looks as it did under 0.2.0, except I have
removed (as recommended here) the tveeprom line:

# This is for WinTV PVR-350 IVTV
# ivtv modules setup
alias char-major-81 videodev
alias char-major-81-0 ivtv
alias tveeprom tveeprom-ivtv <<<<------- [[I removed this line]]
install ivtv /sbin/modprobe --ignore-install ivtv; /sbin/modprobe ivtv-fb

# lirc setup
install lirc_i2c /sbin/modprobe ivtv; /sbin/modprobe --ignore-install
lirc_i2c

running /sbin/modprobe ivtv as indicated on the HOWTO page, despite not
being able to (even forcefully!) rmmod ivtv ... produced no errors,
warnings, or output of any kind.

Shut down the machine, let it sit [OFF] for several minutes (at least 10),
and restart.

ivtvctl -a >>> not an ivtv driver device

modinfo ivtv >>> version: 0.2.0-68_rc3j.rhfc3.at

I would, as always, appreciate any/all input as to what went wrong, and more
specifically, what I can do differently so that I can successfully install
the 0.4.0 version.
