Have you tried enableing or disabling flicker reduction for the OSD?

The mythtv OSD does flicker on a normal television also.

Turning deinterlace on has the same effect with me. But deinterlacing is not needed to get a good picture.

Skipping (1 minute or 10 seconds) is four times faster with xv as with the 350 output. Why is the 350 output so slow?

Subject: [ivtv-devel] Feedback on xdriver

I've just updated to the 0.4.0 ivtvdriver & 0.10.6 xdriver.

This has now given me the opportunity to try xv output instead of the 350 output while using MythTV, unfortunatly this is not yet suitable for me.
The osd display has way to much flicker (being displayed on a widescreen tv), I've played with various settings in Myth, including deinterlacing with no luck.

The following messages show up in the log file:

Oct 15 17:45:15 olympus kernel: ivtv0-osd warning: Need to adjust to width 720 src_w 720 dst_w 720 src_x 0 dst_x 0
Oct 15 17:45:15 olympus kernel: ivtv0-osd warning: Need to adjust to height 576 src_h 576 dst_h 406 src_y 0 dst_y 86
Oct 15 17:45:15 olympus kernel: ivtv0-osd warning: Source video: Interlaced
Oct 15 17:45:15 olympus kernel: ivtv0 warning: Enable video output
Oct 15 17:46:44 olympus kernel: ivtv0-osd warning: Need to adjust to width 720 src_w 720 dst_w 720 src_x 0 dst_x 0
Oct 15 17:46:44 olympus kernel: ivtv0-osd warning: Need to adjust to height 576 src_h 576 dst_h 406 src_y 0 dst_y 86

I've noticed that these messages are continuing to be displayed even though I've gone back to the 350's output.

I also noticed that if I turned on deinterlacing and the following ivtvctl settings
ivtvctl -b wss,teletext -w wss -x 1
then the image has problems, the colour keeps changing (blue faces) and the image jumps around. (would have to try this again to discribe it better, sorry)
also has the same image problems when with setting ivtvctl -x 0 (but keeping the wss/teletext settings)
I know that the ivtv vbi structure is not conformant with mythtv, so I don't know if this is what's causing the problem.

When not using deinterlace the picture is brilliant (even with the vbi settings) so still works well for dvd playing.

Hope this helps somewhat, am willing to try anything to help solve this.

Ant.
