I have the setup mentioned in the subject line above.
When I was trying to view a movie using my VCR which
is connected to my PVR-500MCE s-video input and
running MythTV, I could only hear audio but the screen
was black. I suspect this is due to the VHS tape
being Macrovision protected and my VCR and possibly
the PVR-500MCE card has the Macrovision protection
built into them.

Anyway, I was just wondering if there's a way to get
around this at the ivtv driver level. I noticed that
there's a comment line in one of the ivtv source files
that mentions enabling/disabling Macrovision, but I'm
not sure what changes need to be made to disable it
(if it's not already done by default).
I'm hoping one of the developers here can tell me how
that line of code needs to be changed to disable
Macrovision.

I want to at the very least be able to watch my VHS
movie from MythTV. But after this experience, I am
also now considering copying the movie onto DVD to
avoid this Macrovision hassle and to also preserve the
movie from the effects of tape degradation.

Thanks in advance!
