My sound problem was caused by an old version of cx25840.ko
laying around in my distro's "extra" modules directory.
I uninstalled the kernel + devel and deleted the residue.
then reinstalled, rebooted, made and installed 0.4 2nd.
Vidio works but no audio.
I been using this to view-
cat /dev/video0 | mplayer -vo xv -ao alsa -
