I can only confirm that I had a long struggle with a VIA chipset based 
motherboard too (over a year ago) and that it caused the system to 
freeze. In the end I gave up on it and bought a new motherboard with an 
Intel chipset and all my problems were gone.

I did get freezes though, not reboots.
