Support for the Hauppauge additional composite/S-video input cable set was announced for 0.6.0, but (unless maybe I'm going blind) it doesn't seem to have made it into the ChangeLog for that version hosted at http://dl.ivtvdirver.org/ivtv/stable/ChangeLog-0.6. If this is true, could the changelog be updated to reflect this, please? I had to spend a while finding the right name for this bit o' hardware so I could verify which version supported it.
Also: 0.5.1 (at least) is downloadable from the wiki's Main_Page, but its changelog gets a 404. (If I have this right: the cable set is not supported by 0.4.x, might have been in 0.5.x somewhere but 0.5 was superceded, and -is- in 0.6.0. However, 0.6.0 requires kernel version 2.6.16 -only-, which means people running older kernels (e.g., Ubuntu Hoary & Breezy and others) can't use that version at all, which means they can't use the external cable set until they install a newer kernel. If this is correct, I'll include this summary somewhere on the wiki. [I also just updated the Community Portal pages to point one level higher into Gossamer, now that the -users list is archived as well, so people following that link know that both lists are available there.]) I wonder if there's some easy way of specifying which things work and don't work across different versions without reading ChangeLogs, but I suspect this would get out of date fast, and it may be that the cable set is a special case (since everything else is basically which tuner versions are supported, etc). It might also make sense to document (somewhere) that closed-captioning NTSC support doesn't (yet) work on the 150/500's---I recall a patch going in to enable it, but don't remember if in it's a downloadable version yet. I certainly don't see it in a ChangeLog. (Is it possible that this patch will ever be backported to the 0.4.x series, or will it only be available in 0.6.0 and hence only for kernels 2.6.16 and greater? That might also be good to document & I'll do so if I can get any definitive information on this.) Thanks... _______________________________________________ ivtv-devel mailing list [email protected] http://ivtvdriver.org/mailman/listinfo/ivtv-devel
