My first priority is to get it documented so people can actually make 
the necessary changes. It is also my intention that the new API will 
also become available in the older ivtv versions (0.4.x, 0.6.x, 0.7.x) 
so that would be my suggestion to drop the old IVTV-specific API 
altogether. However, due to time constraints this may not be possible 
to be done before the 2.6.18 kernel is released, so there might be a 
transition period.
