Hello All,

Now that ivtv has moved into the kernel and anything else is sort of in
maintanance mode. I was thinking about moving the instructions for the
older ivtv releases into a new "legacy" page on the wiki. This would
also include moving the download links into a similar page or perhaps
the same page.

The reason is that while it is very complete it can also be very
confusing, especially the modules section for ivtv 0.4 and earlier.
Another example are the kernel <-> ivtv dependencies.

So, how many people on this list still use the older releases of ivtv?
Should the user list be asked for feedback?

Do they require the instructions to be in the general howto on the wiki?

Maybe Axel can provide some download statistics for the past months?

Do we still want to show instruction for the pre mainline kernel
versions? IMO only 0.10, v4l-dvb and in kernel should remain. Where 0.10
will be moved out in the next 3 to 6 months.

As a bonus, when the old instructions are moved out of the general howto
it will free up a lot of space. The Xdriver howto *could* be merged
into the general howto without causing readability issues. And also a
section explaining how to get v4l-dvb compiling and installed could be
added.

So does anyone have objections, suggestions (want to call me stupid for
suggesting it ;-))?

Greets
Sander
