There is a link to an archive of firmware files that Conexant has granted permission to distribute near the bottom of this page: http://www.ivtvdriver.org/index.php/Cx18 Here's the actual archive: http://dl.ivtvdriver.org/ivtv/firmware/cx18-firmware.tar.gz Where your firmware files go is distribution specific. For Fedora, /lib/firmware is the directory to put the files into. I don't know about gentoo. > here is > my dmesg: > cx18-0: unable to open firmware v4l-cx23418-apu.fw > cx18-0: did you put the firmware in the hotplug firmware directory? > cx18-0: Retry loading firmware > cx18-0: unable to open firmware v4l-cx23418-apu.fw > cx18-0: did you put the firmware in the hotplug firmware directory? > cx18-0: Failed to initialize on minor 0 > cx18-0: Failed to initialize on minor 0 > cx18-0: Failed to initialize on minor 0 > cx18-0: Failed to initialize on minor 0 > kernel communicates nicely > this was the driver cx18-mmio-fixes-81edee142f9c, just modprobe cx18 > and it loaded up. OK. So far so good. Hopefully once the firmware is installed everything will work.
