3) The mythtv backend (0.16 and cvs) will segfault (without core) after an hour of recording (two 30 minute programs). I don't think this is entirely a fault of mythtv on Core 3. I have tried debugging the backend a couple of times unsuccessfully, but when I have ... I have caused the ivtv driver to start complaining about ivtv: "ENC IRQ OVERFLOW: #4007 Stealing a Buffer, 320 currently allocated" I think some condition that ivtv is creating under Core 3 is unexpected in the mythbackend. If anyone is running mythtv and core 3, please let me know what kernel, driver version, etc you are using. I will continue to investigate on this end.

I was finally able to get gdb to run the mythbackend after I started using a new kernel (2.6.10-1.1056) put in the development tree for Fedora.

The debugger pointed to the problem being in the mysql client libraries. Updating to a new version of mysql did not fix the problem, but downgrading to the version of mysql (3.23.58-10) in the last test version of Fedora stopped the mythbackend from crashing randomly.

I didn't attempt to create a patch to correct the issue as ... well I have other priorities right now. I am just posting this so if other people encounter it then they don't have to go through all the troubleshooting.

I see the CVS version of MythTV has the beginnings of being able to support PostgreSQL. I am *very* excited about that. I will really enjoy becoming a PostgreSQL only shop again.
