Hi all, My roommate and I are hearing impaired (deaf) and have been working on figuring out how CC and VBI support is implemented in the ivtv driver as well as MythTV. Our goal is to have 100% functioning closed captioning on a television with tv-out via a nvidia card (Geforce FX 5200). We are using a PVR-250 to test.
So far it seems that there are two "modes" -- passing through the CC directly to a tv-out device (seems to only support the PVR-350) and embedding in the mpeg stream. When we try turning on mpeg cc embedding with ivtv 0.3 it simply makes /dev/video0 show black and a test capture produces abnormally small mpeg files. In any case, I'm e-mailing to find out what's happening with the ivtv driver and vbi support, and if anybody's gotten it working with MythTV or any other piece of software.
