Alan, please forgive my ignorance, since I'm new to ivtv, I don't know
if you're officially speaking for ivtv development or just chiming
in... :)

I'd be happy to do it. I'd suggest that a branch is created for the
0-2-0 series (rel-0-2-0 or branch-0-2-0 for example) and that the
0-3-0 series continue development on the HEAD branch. Each release
should be tagged, regardless of whether it's a 0-2-0 release or a
0-3-0 release (rel-0-2-0-rc3e for example).

When the 0.3 series is considered stable, it would have a branch
created (rel-0-3-0 or branch-0-3-0 for example) and new development
continue on the HEAD branch. Although this isn't the only way to
manage a project in CVS, it seems that it is the most popular for
maintaining stable and development versions of a product.

Of course, this would all be a waste of time unless ivtv development
begins using SF's CVS services for their development work.
Interestingly enough, I don't even see Chris Kennedy listed as an ivtv
developer or project admin on SF... Perhaps that's why he doesn't use
SF... :)

So, my offer stands, I'd be happy to get SF's CVS up-to-date with the
0-2-0 and 0-3 changes if ivtv development agrees this is a good thing
to do. Please contact me at jthomps at users.sourceforge.net if you
have any questions or would like to discuss my offer further.

Thanks,
