Attached is the same patch I sent previously which initializes the va struct before calling the msp3400 VIDIOCGAUDIO and disables mute on driver load. I've been using this with the 2.6.10 kernel msp3400 driver very successfully since, well, the last time I sent this patch. (Recordings are quieter, I still believe the kernel msp3400 driver is in error, it is limiting the potential volume settings a ways before the real limit at least for the chips on the ivtv cards).
Additionally I'm trying to slip in a larger max mpg buffer, the current size
(while significantly better than rc3 originally) seems a bit too small.
Also I'm throwing in a patch to chann.c, setting it to using the NTSC cable
frequency chart by default, and allowing you to pass -d /dev/myothercard.
