Thanks for the prep_frame/vsync tip John, I hope I have some time this week-end to give it a try.
Same behavior as the other posters for me on this, using a 3Ghz P4. When I use the decoder, the output just stops after x minutes. And when that happens, the encoder, if it is running at the same time also just stops. When I use x11 (ivtvdev) as output, I don't get the hangs, but the video frame rate is closer to 20fps than 29.95fps, and I get the tearing too (maybe the prep_frame/vsync thing would help). The strange thing is that when I had the pvr350 in an Athlon1600, I did not have the decoder hang problems... Actually, if the x11 output can get to 29.95fps without tearing, I would prefer that over using the decoder, because the mythtv time stretch feature just rocks and doesn't work with the decoder. Plus, I will be able to transcode recordings to better compression formats without playback problems. Jelle.
