This document is likely for developers who are using
the iTVC15/16 chips in embedded designs which are
running Linux. In other words, developers who will
pay at least $10,000 for the specifications/source
code, and who will buy chips in volume from Conexant.
Said companies are also prohibited from releasing the
documentation/code (I don't really see said companies
releasing their source code anyway, it gives their
competitors access to other proprietary secrets).

It's the exact same situation with Broadcom and their
802.11g chips. I can guarantee you that there is
Linux source code for them, because my previous
employer had access to it (as they were developing
designs that used the Broadcom wireless chips).
However, open source developers will never see this
stuff, unless somebody leaks it, because Broadcom
wants it to stay private.

Also, as a final word, I would highly recommend that
the ivtv team not use this leaked Conexant datasheet,
unless they have been given permission to. Doing so
puts the ivtv project (or at least any U.S.
contributors to it) on shaky legal ground.
