There have been threads about the possibility of getting a way to play MPG4 files (and others I assume) over the PVR350 tv-out. If I remember well, it has to do with YUV something.
I would be very much interested in this happening, and I think quite a few people share the feeling. So, here is my proposal: how about we create a development bounty for whoever will bite the bullet and do this work? I am personally completely unable to do anything about it (no skills in that area), but I would be able to do testing.
I know this is not about money. At the same time, I would like to reward someone for taking this issue on.
I'll pledge $50 for starters. Who else will join me? I can collect the offers and sum up. I bet if we get a few people involved, we should be able to get something interesting.

We did this sort of thing with the dxr3 in xine. The dxr3 is a hardware mpeg2 decoder and tv-out card from creative.
In order to get mpeg4 output over it, we did on-the-fly mpeg4 -> mpeg2 conversion and then send the mpeg2 to the card.
It works very well in xine, so should work just as well for mplayer.
