Hi all,

At last I've had success with my 150 MCE PAL card.

I hooked up my Sony DV cam and got both s-video and composite OK. S-video in monochrome, composite in full colour spectrum :-).
After removing a video card (don't know what make, as it doesn't say..) and moving the 150 card to the slot previously occupied by the anonymous videocard, I hit jackpot. Crystal clear video hit me like a brick! I must tell you, I did not expect success!
But, lo and behold, we're there!

I fire up the system with:

modprobe -v ivtv ivtv_std=2 tuner=38 radio=1

The saa7127 module seems to be a BIG no-no with the PVR-150.

S-VIDEOÂ : /usr/local/bin/ivtvctl -p 0 : B/W image
COMPOSITE: /usr/local/bin/ivtvctl -p 2 : crystal clear colour image
TUNERÂÂÂ : /usr/local/bin/ivtvctl -p 6 : crystal clear colour image.

I can hear no sound, but that goes for ANY sound throughout my system... (an old 350 MHz Pentium II MMX board - for now).
Also, I have NO artifacts in the top scan-line, as some have reported. Perfect image.

The tuner reports to be of type '(Philips PAL/SECAM multi (FM1216ME MK3)', type 38 (see below). I've found that type 38 & type 52 have the SAME definition in ivtv-0.3.2d/driver/tuner.c. Pick whichever you like...it makes no difference.

It appears that the two files 'pvr_1.18.21.22254_inf.zip' & 'pvr48wdm_1.8.22037.exe' contain the same firmware. At least diff'ing showed no difference.

I think I'll be moving on to the mythtv mailinglist now... Still some ground to be covered...
:-)

So long, and thanks for all the fish!

Cheers,

-Morten
