Actually didn't try disabling the hardware out... So that's why it always hung 
so
quickly...

It changes the way the OSD thread gets woken up from the vsync interrupt...

Sometimes (1 out of 10 times) when starting X on the ivtv-fb, it just sits 
there waiting
with a blank screen until I change the keyboard focus (CTRL-ALT-F8) to the X 
display. Then
it wakes up and displays all that it should have...

I hoped this patch would have fixed this, but didn't.

Yeah well, I've had more problems with this mainboard (FC2 doesn't even boot on 
an Asus
P4P800) and I need to boot with the 'pci=noapic' boot option to prevent errors 
from my
add-on PCI IDE controller...

Next time I'll go for the cheaper stuff ;-)
