Ultimately, the goal is to be able to use everything from the kernel. However, 
with the pace of development, we're implementing new things that won't make 
it into the kernel for a while, thus the need for duplication in the ivtv 
source.

Something like that is done for msp3400, wouldn't be hard to do it for the 
tuner and tveeprom modules as well.
