Thanks Chris - Followed this through step by step, also changing VBI setup to 'None' rather than 'PAL-NZ' from mythtvsetup as Haukur suggested.
I now have a clear picture from my PVR150-MCE on the composite input - Hurrah! Sadly, very weak, poor quality audio - I have to crank the amp that audio out goes into up to 50% to hear anything much at all and its pretty crappy quality. I have yet to try getting anything out of the tuner itself. To date that just plain hasn't worked...
