I had the same problem in MythTV 0.17 on my pvr150 until I switched from
using /dev/dsp (OSS) to ALSA. For me, I had to install the alsa-devel
packages and then rebuild MythTV. After that, I switch the mythtv
configuration from /dev/dsp -> ALSA:default. No problems since.

Subject: Re: [ivtv-devel] Poll of people with PVR-150/500 working with
sound

Ive got audio now that I've gone back to 0.3.2h. I couldnt get it
working in the newest versions of the driver. Ive got it working with
mplayer and ptune-ui, but I lose audio in mythtv after changing
channels or pausing. Flushing the live-tv buffer brings it back again.
Anyone know how to fix this?

I have a pvr150mce-lp. Driver version 0.3.2h reports:
    Hauppauge: model = 25012, rev = B158, serial# = 7713534
    tuner = Philips FM1236 MK3 (idx = 58, type = 4)
    tuner fmt = NTSC(M) (eeprom = 0x08, v4l2 = 0x00001000)
    audio_processor = MSP3410D (type = 5)

Also, I find that the type=xx changes with the driver version.
     0.3.2s: tveeprom: tuner = Philips FM1236 MK3 (idx = 58, type = 43)
In version 0.3.2s, I get a value of 43 but in 0.3.2h it tells me 4.
