Steven,

I'm using the lirc snapshot 0.7.1pre2 with its lirc_i2c driver
successfully with my pvr-150.  I tried and failed to get the kernel
ir-kbd-i2c drivers working with kernel 2.6.10.  I think someone from
this list patched lirc to handle the pvr-150, and maybe a similar
patch must be applied to the kernel driver before it will work.
