Another 2 cents worth...

I have a PVR150-MCE also (PAL), type 38. I have perfect picture (seems better now than ever before - which could be just me wanting this to be true) and great sound through a Creative Labs SB Audigy card, using alsa. I'm using 0.3.3e.
I have never used "
qss=0", naver had the need to.

Chers,

Hi,

Just adding my 2 cents worth - I have 0.3.3e installed with a PAL
PVR150-MCE, type 58 tuner and get good video and tinny sound that is like
someone talking down a tube. Prior to 0.3.3e I was using 0.3.2q and the
sound was good.

I have had sound since adding the qss=0 option to modprobe.conf - without it
I get nothing.

Cheers,

Rick

Chris,

this driver seems to give me the best video-capture on my
150MCE (PAL) I've seen so far. Before I was using DNR to get
some of the "blockiness" away but this one is really on the
right track but now I just disabled it.
I haven't been able to use my 150 since 0.3.2r until the
saa7127-patch so I can't help you with the proc-amp problem.
I might be able to find some time later this week to apply
the saa7127 patch to the older releases and do some testing.
I do have one problem on the 0.3.3 series that I didn't have
on 0.3.2p. The problem is that on most channels, audio is
"bad". On some it's just some ticking noises from time to
time, on others it's really bad with the occassional
"humming" (sorry if I can't describe it better, not a native
english speaker).

I became aware of a problem in the cx25840 digitizer which
we had hit
since changing the code from Ulfs original setup, where we
would reset
the registers upon starting a capture. It seems if we
don't do this
just right, then the chip doesn't setup itself to a good state for
things like the proc-amp and possibly other settings. I
had to figure
out the best way to keep from losing other settings we manually set
but still give it this reset. So this attempts that, seems like it
should work, please test this if you've had problems with
pvr150/500
cards since the version 0.3.2u or so, and also if you are currently
doing fine with these cards, so we can make sure this is a good
overall global solution for everyone (and really the right thing to
do). Video proc-amp settings would be dark and red without these
changes, and this could also be why some don't have sound
anymore and various other things (like no capture).
