Addendum to my earlier message.
I decided to reboot an run MythTV again:
1) MythTVbackend
2) MythTVfrontend
Get horizontally-striped b/w full screen
3) Right Nav Key returns - Skip ahead message
4) Left Nav Key returns - Skip back message
5) Up Nav key, after a delay showed a station icon, the assigned channel
number and the time. At the foot, a full width graphic looking like
a bulk
carrier bearing the (station ID?)
6) The down Nav key much the same. Basically all the stations defined.
showed they same but no picture nor sound.
