Hi list,

I hope I'm not completely wrong here for my questions.

I wrote several linux drivers for USB DVB boxes (digital TV - comparible to ATSC in the USA, to those who don't what DVB is). A new USB Box is a so-called hybrid box (a combination of DVB-T (terrestrial) and analogue capturing). While it was quite easy to add support for the DVB-T part (the demodulator is a cx22702) it could be more complicated to write support for the analogue part.

The analogue capturing part is handled by a CX25842 (this is why I'm asiking here).

Now to my questions:

1) Are there any USB devices (with open-source Linux-drivers) for boxes with that chip?

2) Is the CX25840-driver from ivtv compatible to the CX25842?

3) Unless 1): would it make sense to write a USB driver for the IVTV section (although there is no IVTV chip inside)? Or better include the analogue part into the DVB-T driver so the USB-related stuff could be reused.

4) Do you have any other ideas?

Thanks for your attention,
Patrick.
