X currently displays 768x576 which with the overscan ends up with the edge off the screen. I have a plan to allow this to be changed but no time to implement it yet so until then there are 2 solutions depending on what you want to run.
1) Use a window manager that allows you to configure a smaller virtual desktop and then all the windows etc. will appear inside that. 2) If you are using mythtv you can configure it to draw in a smaller window than the desktop and configure the size of that. Since I am only running myth I use option 2 and don't run any window manager on that X server.
