I wouldn't think the i2c bus delay would cause a problem.  Should be
something easily tested though, given the frequency of oopses occuring,
if SMP users would disable fast firmware load (options cx25840
cx25840_fast_fw_load=0), and see if that fixes it.

I think I was one of the SMP folks who reported an oops.  I'd love to help if someone could fill in a couple details of what to do.  So far I've followed Jarod Wilson's guide to installing MythTV.  His config has me using apt-get to install packages from atrpms.net (thanks Axel) for installing the ivtv drivers.

1.  I've been trying to figure out how to install the latest driver without borking up what apt-get installed.
2.  The FAQ at http://ivtv.writeme.ch/tiki-view_faq.php?faqId=1#q11 refers to compilation instructions (and kernel patching) for the 2.4 kernel, but I'm running a 2.6 kernel, so I'm wondering what is different about the instructions.
3.  And finally, once I have all that figured out, where do I make the changes recommended in the above post.

Thanks for all the help.  I'm really hoping I can get this working (I've had the PVR card since Mar).
