These are all good questions, right now there are defaults which work as we have seen, they could be changed, depending on the system. The m.system_free=16384 parameter could probably be increased, even could have that amount * cards used possibly, think it was for 1 card.
Hrmm. Interesting. I've got memory to spare, so it's not a big deal to do this per-card if it helps with prevention of glitches.
