It doesn't seem to make a difference. dmesg still shows:

tda9885/6/7: chip found @ 0x86
ivtv: i2c attach [client=tda9887,ok]

To make sure I put the option in the right place, I tried some garbage 
options and received warnings.

This was tried with 0.3.6W I haven't yet tested 0.3.5.
