Yes, and you were probably drawn to its hardware MPEG encoder.  :-)

Well there is a passthrough mode on the PVR350 since it has a video output 
device as well but that's not what you're looking for.  

Unfortunately the card isn't designed to do what you want; the MPEG encoder 
saves CPU power but yes there are buffers involved in its use.
