I had a similar problem, I am not sure it is related:

The 4 contact mini-jack connector ar the back of the
PVR-150 is giving me intermitant contacts. sometimes
it works, and sometimes I need to push it (or the wire
leading to the IR sensor) hard into the socket to get
functionality.
