Hi Nick, I had artificial ghosting with widths other than 720 on a PAL PVR350 within the last 8 months. It could be removed using ivtvctl -c dnr_temporal=0, but I just went back to 720x576. So it is my experience that alternate resolutions are possible for recordings, but you have to adjust other settings to maintain a good picture when doing it.
