Using the current method enough to trigger the driver into dma'ing the data
to the 350. Using other dedicated methods I believe this could be made
smaller. 
However I think I once managed to persuade the card to draw things without
doing this and now we know more about the card I think if I spend some time
on this again we might be able to solve this. 
I'll probably spend a couple of evenings next week looking at this again.
