I tried again with the 0.3.8 drivers with no significant difference.  It's plugged into the same cable that it was plugged into before I started swapping hardware, so I don't know what the problem could be.  The new dmesg is as follows:

Again, there just seems to be no output, no matter how long I cat /dev/video0 > test.mpg the file stays empty.
