After a complete power-down my pvr-150 box works just like it did, 
however sound on unit 0 of the pvr-500 is gone. Sound on unit #1 is 
still present.

unit #0 gives a beep of about 1600 herz

After unloading ivtv and cx25840 and reloading ivtv, sound gets back 
again on unit #0, after I select a frequency.

It'sn not clear to me if frequency switching doesn't work after the 
first load, because I can't test video reproduction from where I am now.
