I am using a PVR 150 on the 2.6.14-rc1 kernel with the 1.3.9 ivtv release. The change from 1.3.8 definitely fixed a problem with a failure to lock the sound in quickly. I saw many of the same problems reported with different releases of the ivtv module, but currently the only problem that I see is no sound under mythtv.

I checked that the sound level is as expected by running "mplayer /dev/video". The sound is as expected, and restarting mplayer several times doesn't affect the sound level. I checked the volume that ivtv sets with "ivtvctl -Y". There seems to be no problem that I can see with the ivtv module when running mplayer. I can change the channel with ptune, and everything seems to be fine. "ivtvctl -Y" shows a volume of 60928.

I then checked the sound level with mythtv. When I choose the "Watch TV" menu item, and check the ivtv volume with ivtvctl, the level is changed to 38912, and the sound doesn't work. By modifying that volume level, with "ivtvctl -y volume=61000", the sound reappears, and doesn't change when changing channels. But everytime that I rerun mythtv, the sound level is reduced.

Since many of those giving feedback for ivtv are using mythtv to check out the sound levels, some of the problems reported might really be due to problems within the initialization interface with mythtv. I know that this is a purely empirical form of problem analysis, but there are no problems that I see with the 1.3.9 ivtv module. I thought that some positive news might be a welcome change.
