svn = subversion. It's were all development takes place. This page explains it 
a bit: http://ivtv.writeme.ch/tiki-index.php?page=SvnCheckout

More importantly, if you click on the 'ivtv trunk only' link on that page you 
download the latest development version aka the 'latest svn version'.
