So even though xv does work for mplayer it does use 100% of the cpu while using the PVR-350 output in mythtv only uses 10%. Does that sound right? Does xv not use the hardware decoder?

Hello,

I am trying to use the new Xv support (ivtv_xdriver-0.10.6-3.rhfc4.at) to drive my PVR-350. I am running VIA EPIA ME6000 (600Mhz) board. I can get the Xv stuff to work fine in mplayer (mplayer -vo xv test.mpeg2) but
when I change the myth setting to not use the PVR-350 output I get
constant "prebuffering pause" making it unwatchable. Has anyone else run into this? Is there a setting somewhere I missed? I also unchecked
the XvMC option since myth wouldn't show anything when that was
selected. Thanks,

I'd say email mythtv-users as this is a mythtv problem, since XV is
working for other programs. Are you sure XV is working for mplayer?
look closely at it's output and make sure it isn't falling back to
x11/xshm

You unchecked 'Use PVR350 output), but did you check the related setting 'Use XV'? I've not verified the exact names but both options are in the
same set of configuration screens in Myth.

There is no use xv option in mythtv. It's the default (no optinos
checked = xv). You're thinking of the XvMC option.
