I am experiencing this after swapping hardware and upgrading from FC3 to 
FC4.  Massive changes, yes.  I've detailed my situation at:

Can you find a different log message that correlates to the actual time 
that the error occurred?  In my case, I got the above "Pending while 
stopping capture" when the recording was commanded to be stopped, not 
when it actually stopped.  To check, look at the time of when your 
recording started, check the length of your actual recording (easiest 
way is to play it back, press 'E' to edit, then Page-Down to the end and 
note the time), add the two and check your logs.  In my case, the actual 
error logged at the time the recording stopped was "ivtv0 warning: ENC: 
REG_DMAXFER 2 wait failed".

To me this is suggesting a DMA (hardware) failure, as in BIOS or 
chipset.  The card was reliable in the old box, the new box was reliable 
in a different role.  Currently looking into BIOS updates and latest FC4 
kernel (kernel-2.6.14-1.1637_FC4).
