I believe that I am in nearly the same boat as you - I
just upgraded my machine (dual 2.4GHz P4, 512MB RAM,
1xPVR-350, 1XPVR-250, 1xPVR-150, 200GB xfs drive for
recordings, using PVR-350 for output) from Knoppmyth
R5A16 to R5A26.
Last night brought two freezes while watching
recordings, rewinding brought things back each time.
Better than before (I was seeing 3-6 freezes per show,
sometimes with a hard lockup of the system), but still
frustrating and I don't know if the next one is going
to need a restart. I was also seeing several
truncated recordings, for which I still have no
explanation.
I believe that the version of Myth contained within
Knoppmyth R5A26 has improved the PVR-350 playback
substantially - not 100% fixed, but a darn sight
better. I have had *ONE* short recording all week,
and am now running mythbackend with --verbose all in
the hopes of catching the next one, if one occurs.
Meanwhile, I wish I had more concrete info for you. I
don't know what changes were made to the version of
Myth that I am running, nor how to get your hands on
it outside of Knopp. But it might be worth persuing.
Personally, I had my hopes up for 350-output, but I
may end up switching to using my videocard's output if
that will avoid the freezes. I hope I don't have to,
because I *LOVE* the picture quality. We'll see.
If I can get more info for you, I will share it. Hang
in there, brother (or sister, your address puts that
up for grabs ;-)!
Steve
