What made you decide to use HcwMakoC.ROM instead of HcwMakoA.ROM?

I had a similiar problem with my 150 and I spent days trying to solve
it. Ultimately it was a simple fix.
Two things that I did differently is that I used HcwMakoC.ROM which can
be found as part of latest driver files from Hauppauge. I found that
ivtv version > 0.3.x gets the driver files from the /lib/firmware
directory and not the /lib/modules directory. I copied the decoder
(v4l-cx2341x-dec.fw) and encoder (v4l-cx2341x-enc.fw) files (actually
the links) to that directory as well as HcwMakoC.ROM. You can either
rename the .ROM file or symbolic link it to v4l-cx25840.fw.
Once I did this, everything started working fine.
p.s. I used /usr/bin/ivtvctl -p 0

I'm new to this. I'm looking for some help in diagnosing why my
Hauppauge WinTV-PVR-150 card produces a zero length file when I use the
command:
cat /dev/video0 > /tmp/test_capture.mpg
I followed the instructions at http://wilsonet.com/mythtv/fcmyth.php for
seting up the ivtv driver and MythTV software. All appeared to go OK.
After step 10 (install capture card driver), I tested the video capture
by attaching an antenna to the NTSC input of my PVT-150 and used the
above unix command.
I used "ivtv-tune -c 8" to set the tuner to a strong local TV channel.
I tried the following commands to insure the card used the proper
video input:
/usr/bin/ivtvctl -u 0x3000
/usr/bin/ivtvctl -p 4 (I tried 0 thru 8, not just 4)
At the end of this email are the relevant system log entries when
booting.
Notice the system autodetects a WinTV PVR 250 card, but I have a
PVR-150.
Perhaps I have incorrect firmware?
My /lib/modules directory contains the following files:
