I was trying to move the video to my Windows box, do the edit, then move it back for burning to DVD. Guess I'll try avidemux over VNC instead. Just as well... 4+ gig files take a while to copy and are problematic on FAT32 file systems. What's recommended -- edit the .nuv file directly (I see your patch here, John) or exporting using nuvexport first? I see that http://www.mythtv.info/moin.cgi/ArchiveRecordingsToDvdHowTo suggests editing the .nuv directly. John, this didn't work for you? I have a PVR-350 too.
