Almost correct, it is just the opposite. :)

No, the rpms do not add any alias lines, this needs to be done
explicitely by the user if required.

e.g. the default is to use the kernel's versions and the ones from
ivtv are in standby with altered names.

If the names were not altered, then ivtv's version would always
win.
