It's indeed odd that an LG tuner is "detected". Where could I have
specified that (by accident, by not knowing the meaning of module
options, ...)?

On my machine, the card didn't work after an auto-update of KnopMyth
and neither after a standard install of IVTV 0.4.2. Are you in
Europe/PAL as well? Perhaps you can post your ivtv options file so
that I can try to reproduce your configuration?

A major question for me remains: what files are involved in setting up
IVTV nowadays? It seems that you have a lot of options (like
modprobe.conf, modules.conf, /etc/modprobe.d/ivtv,
/etc/mythtv/modules/ivtv, ...) Perhaps behind my back some old
settings are picked up in a file that I don't know of and because of
that things went wrong from the start... ?

Regards and thanks for your help,
Pieter
