Thanks for the extra info Natan.

Compiling didn't give any errors on my system... though I must admit
that I didn't get the kernel sources (with apt) before calling make
(although I did an autoupgrade with KnopMyth which should have deleted
the kernel sources if they were on my system from a previous
installation...)

I'll try out the channel frequencies now and see where I get.
